the idea is to have the software able to diplay pictures that are stored remotely in a network (e.g. from an internet site).

For example imagine two users (A and B), both with your software running and the same galleries, both connected in a network.
A visits a gallery and watch pictures, the pictures are dynamically downloaded from B's computer.

In this scenario user A may need to download a description file that describe which gallery to use (optional download) and which photos to diplay in the gallery.

A firefox plugin will be a nice to have. :)

Interesting idea!
But recently we’ve realized importance to move to the web. And My Pictures 3D Album with VRML export format is already in beta-phase. And My Pictures 3D Album with Shockwave 3D export format is in development.
Check it out soon and say what do you think of it

Very good move!
Web based services are really growing fast, and you can serve all the long tail of the business... to don't mention the possibility to partner with "big guys".

Hmmm interesting.
I have a question: why VRML instead of X3D?
As well, it will be interesting to have some support for AJAX 3D.
I admit it's not the most common consumer use case.
But from the point of view of professional web designer it will be a good way to create a service based on your software as engine.
Imagine a king of Flickr web based service using your 3D system. :)
That will be very nice... but probably your business case is more orientered to consumer instead of B2B.
If AJAX is well used you may be able to use it limit the bandwith used for data traffic and the CPU load on the receiving client (browser).
In other world make the power of your application available to mobile phone users.
Upload images, automatic creation of paths, ajax... a good mix that network operators like Orange, Vodafone, and Softbank may love to have! ;) $$$

I'll check as soon as possible!

P.S.
I did suggest a distributed systembecause of personal needs. :)
I love to take photos, and I have a very large number of them.
Often I visit friends and they ask me to show photos.

I could do with a portable HD, but I prefer to bring just a relatively small application and directly "take" the photos from my computer at home.
My computer is connected to a fast DSL connection, have its own IP, and have a mini server running.

I use a similar concept to watch movies inside my house uPnP + wLan makes the trick.
