Gunner Kiel transferring from Notre Dame Fighting Irish - ESPN
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The short-lived Gunner Kiel era is officially over at Notre Dame.
Kiel is not listed on the Fighting Irish's spring roster, and head coach Brian Kelly said Tuesday that the former four-star quarterback recruit is no longer a part of the program.
Kelly said the schools that Kiel is considering transferring to are in line with what are appropriate given Notre Dame's schedule. Kelly added that it is his understanding that Kiel is still enrolled and plans to finish the semester.
A source had told ESPN.com on March 7 that the Class of 2012 signal-caller had intended to transfer.

The Columbus (Ind.) High School product had committed to Indiana and later LSU before redshirting at Notre Dame this past fall during the Irish's run to the Discover BCS National Championship Game. He is the nephew of former Notre Dame quarterback Blair Kiel, who died last Easter at age 50.
Redshirt freshman Everett Golson won the starting job last fall, with junior Tommy Rees seeing extensive playing time, too.
After spurning LSU at the 11th hour in January 2012 to enroll early at Notre Dame, Kiel drew sharp criticism from LSU coach Les Miles, who questioned the heart of Kiel at the Tiger Gridiron Club's annual national signing day "Bayou Bash" in Baton Rouge, La.
