Post subject:  Cropping

I'm new to the photo editing SW. Trying to figure out how to crop a photo to a standard print size. Any suggestions?

Photo Editor has no special tools for this purpose. But you can calculate the picture dimensions in 3:2 proportion (for 10x15 pictures), set the required width or height in dependence of your picture using the Resize tool in the Edit menu. Then crop the unnecessary part of the picture (using the Rectangular Select tool in the main toolbar and the Crop command in the Edit menu) checking out the picture size after every crop. If you cropped too much, cancel the last operation and try again. it is a bit difficult and requires some patience. There's also another way: try to find the specialized software for cropping images in the specified proportions. I know one - Better JPEG. May be you'll find another.

FotoFusion from www.lumapix.com is an excellent programme in which, among many great features, you can specify the size of image you want as a result, either in millimeters, inches, pixels, DPI (dots per inch) etc. The programme comes in 3 versions, Standard, Pro and Print and it's used by lots of professional photographers around the world. They have a very lively forum too and Lumapix respond to user wants very quickly.
