Every time I download a gallery, the `file type' is not recognised, either the ZIP file or the folder after extraction. It shows up as an inactive icon and it isn't any easier when trying opening it in any other format......?

Well, that is strange... Usually this should be as follows. You download lighthouse.zip, for example. Then unpack it. And double-click lighthouse.a3g.
So, if the last step fails, you can try to download and install the latest version of My Pictures 3D Screensaver.
If this won’t help, there is one more way. You can open Start > My Pictures 3D > My Pictures 3D ScreenSaver > Configure screen saver > Installed Galleries tab > Install From Disk button > and choose that very lighthouse.a3g.

I tried those suggestions before and it didn’t work. On installing it, it will run the 3 preinstalled galleries, but whenever I download the free ones, such as `moon observatory’, then open the ZIP and folder inside, it just shows an inactive icon. Then, I tried Windows explorer's `open with’ option, but which program am I suppose to choose to open it with? Besides, the main point is that you shouldn’t have to use that option, as it should automatically do this once you open the ZIP???.
