I have two questions connected with wrlm:

1. The wrl application not running on my web sites (on my PC = OK).

2. Which are limitations in WRLM Beta version?

Thank's you for answer.

Hello Jirik.

Could you give me the link to it? I’m sure I will be able to find the reason.

There can be rather low quality of some textures.
There is no full size versions of photos.
And there is no photo comments.

Maxim -

Would you check out this url and report back if this works with firefox2.0? It doesn't for me, but it does in IE7:

GKB Art Gallery

Thanks,

Yes, I’ve got the same problem in my Firefox 1.0.7. Doors and frames are grey and all the other things are absolutely white. Like in Matrix.
Guess, Cortona plugin for Firefox doesn’t support transparent png-files...
We will take this into account, and either recommend you any other VRML viewer or modify our own VRML exporter.

I tried to upload VRML files to my web sites (server site).I attached by link to VRML file from Firefox 2.0.0.1 browser with Cortona viewer ver.5 add-in. But no textures, pictures etc. appears on the screen. I found the URLs relative addresses inside VRML file are pointed to Gallery_Files directory. All URL addresses was changed to:

html://www.myweb.com/Gallery_Files/Anyfiles

where: www.myweb.com = your web site location with VRML file

Gallery_Files = VRML directory with textures, pictures ...

Anyfiles = files located in directory

and all looks fine.

The URL connections was repaired by Notepad (replace function). Question is, why to use the VRML format, if the self-extracting exe file has low capacity and higher quality. In addition, the VRML file need the browser with VRML viewer (Cortona etc). Who from web surfers know about.

I look forward to your opinion too.

Jirik

VRML format can be useful if visitors of your site are afraid of downloading unverified exe-files. Or if they just don’t have enough time to download, install and run every gallery.

And what about Cortona, here I have found a script, which can determine whether Cortona VRML Client is already installed, and automatically install it if needed.
Here is the script:
http://www.allelves.ru/forest/scripts/install.js
And here is the usage (piece of http://www.allelves.ru/forest/forest.php):
Code:
  <script>
  if(navigator.appName.indexOf("Netscape") != -1)
  {
    installed();
    downloadNow();
    install_cortona();
  }
  </script>
