Yall don't laugh because I'm new!? I'm lookin for the easiest way to change a background to black. Do you have to trace around the subject and then color in the rest? What does the little dotted heart tool do? I can't make it do anything.If there is another way, could you let me know, thanks!

Little dotted heart selects region of one color.

So, if, for example, your photo background is blue sky, you should activate this very button, hold down Shift and click on the sky until it all is selected. Then activate Paint Bucket button and fill with black.
